This is just in: Robinoff, head of Warner Brothers, refusing to make movies with women as leads.
Apparently he blames the less-than-stellar box office of the latest Jodi Foster and Nicole Kidman films (The Brave One and The Invasion, respectively) on the fact that the leads had breasts. So he doesn't even want to see scripts with women as leads anymore. No more chicks! They're bad for business!
And all I have to say is, of course! OMG! How could he have been so STUPID as to make movies with chicks in important roles? Of COURSE it's all their fault! Nobody minds seeing people with breasts in a subordinate position, preferably unclothed of course, in a non-speaking part (well, they can coo "John! be careful!" as Our Hero goes out to stomp the bad guys.) But actually give them a speaking part? A story line? Make them the center of the story? Well who would want to see uppity women mouthing off and acting as if they actually matter? What a money-loser!
Or maybe, you know, he could have tried making GOOD movies with women in lead roles. And then people would, you know, go see them.
I mean, God knows there are all kinds of lousy movies with males in lead roles, that nobody goes to see. But do you see Robinoff saying "no more movies with male leads?" Of course you don't.
I say, if this story is confirmed, I'm not going to or renting any more movies Warner Bros. makes, until its misogynist CEO recants or gets canned. One can hope.
